We all know that we are different to each other. We have different races, beliefs, cultures and traditions and we must respect each other for that. We need to understand that being different to each other is normal but disrespecting those differences will make each other uncomfortable to interact with other people. As multicultural literacy defines that it consists of skills and ability not just to identify the knowledge and interests but also to use this knowledge to guide our actions that will lead us in a humane and just society. Multicultural literacy will help us to understand that diversity is not a barrier to make us united. Being different to each other makes an idea to discriminate against others, to disrespect their beliefs and to make social justice worthless. Understanding multicultural literacy will stop those non sense mentalities, those discrimination and judgement. As a student of 21st century, it is important for us to understand multicultural literacy especially as future educators. We are the one who are responsible to teach it, to make our students realize the importance of multiculturalism. We can still change the attitudes and perspectives of those narrow minded where they think that it is right to judge and to discriminate against other people. As we live in this world that is full of judgements and criticisms, that just by your skin color, you can be discriminated against by those racist but there is also a hope to change this living. A well-educated society is one of the most important things in order to understand multiculturalism and as well as multicultural literacy because it will help everyone to accept diversity and to develop attitudes and skills for a humane and just world.
